Rudi Rother (1863-1909)
was a German painter and illustrator
famous for his graphic works and
humorous illustrations in the Jugendstil style,
lthe German equivalent of Art Nouveau;
his work was characterized by flowing lines ,
ornamental designs and stylized figures.
The Pelikan 600 Rudi Rother Art Collection special edition draws on Pelikan's rich visual heritage of historical advertising, this time through the bold, geometric aesthetics of artist and designer Rudi Rother.
Pelikan reinterprets Rudi Rother's art with this new special edition dedicated to him, a model from the Souveraen 600 line.
Pelikan takes an ornamental design from a dress and transforms it into a pattern with an extraordinary holographic effect that brings the fountain pen to life and gives it an irresistible charm.
The barrel of the Pelikan 600 Rudi Rother is made using the sophisticated 'aurora' method. The brass tube is machined and engraved with Guilloché, i.e. very fine grooves that create a special reflective holographic effect. Ten layers of transparent varnish are then applied to achieve a smooth, uniform surface
on which the colour design is printed after polishing. The final polishing, carried out in several steps, gives the pen an extraordinary shine.
