Hand painted pens, inspired to Hercules' Labours Hercules

Ercole IdraHercules the demigod

Son of Zeus and a mortal woman, Hercules was always been alluring for mankind, due to his sheer heroism, his limitless strength and his completion of the 12 impossible missions known to all as "the Labours of Hercules", in which he had to slay the Nemean lion, the 9-headed Lernaean Hydra and the Stymphalian birds; to capture the golden hind of Artemis, the Erymanthian boar, the Cretan bull, the mares of Diomedes and the monster-dog Cerberus, hound of Hades; to clean the Augean stables in one day, to steal the belt of Hippolyte, the cattle of the Monster Geryon and the apples of the Hesperides.
In spite of difficulties, Hercules completed his labours and undertook other adventures, which established him as a symbol of virility, strength and courage, for the ages to the present day.

Tibaldi has graced the barrel of the pen with a threedimensional engraving inspired by a medal made in 1490 by Pier Jacopo Alari Bonacolsi, sculptor and goldsmith, with Hercules fighting with the Hydra. The original resides at the Museo Nazionale del Bargello in Florence.
