"Academia" is the ambitious project that has permitted selection of a number of the most skilled creative forces at work in the City of Florence.
Today, as in the prestigious era of Lorenzo il Magnifico, under the aegis of "Academia", outstanding goldsmiths with an exceptional bent for artistic production practice their art and give tangible form to their innate sense of the beautiful, in the creation of small masterpieces of sculpture and jewelry of indisputable excellence.

The Sceptrum pen

Sceptrum, realized with the purest gold and silver, is a pen with a powerful and striking form, a pen which really must be gripped like a scepter and not simply held.
It's an elegant example of fine craftsmanship, in which the precious materials unite with the purity of the ruby to create a rare jewel.

Encircling the barrel is the depiction of the struggle between a hawk and a snake, that recalls the recurring cycle of life.
A never-ending struggle, the unceasing reduplication of rivalries decreed by the laws of Nature.
And yet the snake, although mortally wounded by the hawk, carries an egg to safety: an extreme gesture symbolic of the eternal principle of life and the guarantee of its renewal.

Sceptrum was created by Paolo Cerrini, who modeled the barrel motif in beeswax for casting

The fountain pen features a retractable piston filler system with disappearing nib.
18 Kt nib (F, M, B, and also OB, OBB, italic 1.3 and 52°); the mechanism is activated by a special metal lock ring and permits retracting the nib into the barrel with an extremely simple gesture.

Limited Edition of only 598 pieces in silver and 298 in gold.
Each pen is singly numbered and signed by the artist.
