Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1947, Paulo Coelho has always been living his life intensely.
In 1986 walked the Road of Santiago de Compostela, a turning point in his life, when he had a spiritual awakening and found inspiration for his first book, The Pilgrimage.
As Master of the written word and of stirring up emotions, he couldn't help being won over by Montegrappa, which has always been the instrument and the expression of the true enthusiasm for writing.
Paulo Coelho - the pen
In every detail, the pen is a tribute to the personal and artistic journey of the great writer, starting from the numbers: the sum of the pieces made are the birth year of Coelho.
The black resin is Coelho's favourite color; the barrel design,
manufactured using the fret working technique, pays homage to an important experience of Coelho’s, his pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
The route covered by the author is plotted out in precious black lacquer in the silver models and in diamonds in the gold one, and limited by two emeralds.

The author’s autograph adorns the cap band, filled in black lacquer.
At the top of the pen is the figure of a compass, recalling Coelho’s artistic symbolism.
The black lacquered line reproduces the route of pilgrimage on the metal map, and ends with an emerald inSantiago de Compostela. |

The Paulo Coelho fountain pen has been produced also in gold, and black resin.

The two-tone 18 Kt gold nib is enriched by an engraved butterfly - another symbol the author is keen on.
The route to Santiago, in the gold version, is decorated with diamonds.
Diamonds are set also on the cap top, among the compass' cardinal points. |
